Identifying Issues and Providing Guidance
CPDA works as an advocate for the adjuvant & inert ingredient manufacturers and post patent crop protection industry on Capitol Hill. The members of the Legislative Committee, working in conjunction with the Director of Legislative Affairs, identified issues that impacted their companies or their customers and were deemed important to rectify during the 113th Congress. In addition to the priority issues, Council staff monitors other issues and Congressional actions that may impact members of the industry.
Legislative Committee
The Legislative Committee serves an important function for CPDA when providing guidance on which legislative issues are important to the membership. The committee also approves the recommendation of the CPDA-PAC Committee in regards to which politicians and candidates CPDA-PAC should support. The Committee meets in person once per year during the CPDA Legislative Policy Conference, and thereafter via conference call.
CPDA’s Political Action Committee (CPDA PAC)
The Council of Producers and Distributors of Agrotechnology Political Action Committee “CPDA-PAC” is the political arm of CPDA. Funds from CPDA-PAC financially support Congressional members and candidates that support our industry. A strong PAC is an essential tool in helping CPDA have a “seat at the table” so we can advocate for the entire CPDA community of registrants, manufacturers, and distributors.
What is the purpose of the CPDA-PAC?
The purpose of the PAC is to:
- Provide campaign contributions to federal candidates for elective office who understand the importance of the issues that to the Crop Protection Product Industry;
- Provide our member companies with a greater ability to support elected officials;
- Inform and update PAC members about key legislative and regulatory issues that affect the agrotechnology industry and CPDA member companies.
The CPDA-PAC is an effective way to become more politically active and support candidates who understand the legislative priorities that will impact the entire industry.
